Fiber Optic Test Equipment

As demands for higher bandwidth solutions grow, network designers expect fiber optic systems installed today to be scalable to support the user needs of tomorrow. Carefully planned optical fiber network solutions deliver lower cost of ownership, consistent high performance, and maximum up-time.

Fiber optic test equipment is a very important part of every fiber optic cable system installation.  Contractors doing the installation need to keep the testing time to a minimum in order not to waste valuable time and money.  Toner Cable provides reliable and affordable fiber optic test equipment for visual inspection, visual tracing, visual fault location, fiber optic connector inspection, measuring optical power, testing loss and more.

Fiber optic test equipment is used to evaluate the performance of fiber optic components, cable plants and systems. As the components like fiber, connectors, splices, LED or laser sources, detectors and receivers are being developed, testing confirms their performance specifications and helps understand how they will work together. Designers of fiber optic cable plants and networks depend on these specifications to determine if networks will work for the planned applications.

For every fiber optic cable plant,  all fibers should be tested at least for continuity, proper end to end connections and, most importantly, loss. How each of these tests are performed depends on the installation type, required standards and the actual layout of the components in the cable plants. You will probably also want to verify the individual splices with an OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer), since that's the only way to make sure that each splice is good. Always "Inspect before you connect" is a good practice, this will reduce any troubleshooting time, optimize signal performance and prevent any network damage.   If you are the network user, you may also be interested in testing transmitter and receiver power, this will ensure that the system is operating properly.

At Toner Cable you will find everything you need to test your fiber optic cable system from OTDR's to power meters and light sources, we are your single source for fiber optic test equipment.
