Fiber Optic Test & Cleaning Kit Advice from Indiana University
Chris Vanhook is a Campus Cable Technician at Indiana University. Chris recently purchased a Toner Fiber Optic Test & Cleaning Kit to clean a connector which resulted in a drastic improvement in picture quality.
Chris wrote the testimonial below to let other technicians know about the benefits he experienced using the Toner Fiber Optic Test & Cleaning Kit:
I work for Indiana University and I am responsible for the cable system here. We have over 50 fiber receivers on campus with over 10,000 cable drops. Now back to the new Toner Fiber optic test & cleaning kit. I have found that it is one of the most important tools I have. I use the microscope to check all the fiber jumpers, the power meter to test the level at the buildings, the fiber visible light source is great for finding that fiber has light source. I have not used the power meter yet. It comes with a complete cleaning kit, all in a rugged carry case. This is a kit you must have if you do fiber, otherwise you are working in the dark like I was. I recommend at least this kit unless you have a lot of money to buy real high end equipment. This was a lot for the buck.Back to News
