Here is the Senior Application Engineer with Olson Technology, Jerry Thorn, to talk about the new fiber optic node for CATV Systems, the Olson OTMN-III.

Hi there, I’m Jerry Thorn. I’m the Senior Application Engineer with Olson Technology and today we’re at Toner Cable showing a new fiber optic node for CATV systems. 

And the advantage of the new node versus the one we sold in the past is this one is fully segmentable. It means that you can feed in multiple fiber optic receivers and provide separate, isolated RF outputs from the four major ports of all fiber optic nodes. So in many ways this shares a lot of features with other nodes that have come before. The difference’s here are that we offer something that is not available from our competitors. And that is a dual, return path transmitter module so that we can have two modules powering all four segmentable reverse ports back toward the cable TV headend.

We’ve also got four additional slots in the lid for four forward path, one gigahertz optical receivers. So it is a true, segmented, CATV fiber node with gallium arsenide power doubled RF output for low distortions.

The OTMN-III is now on the price list and available for order. We have a number of units in stock. We just need to know what kind of return path transmitter you need, which wavelength it’s going to be in, whether you want a single or dual transmitter module, in other words two reverse transmitter’s in there. And they can be upgraded in the field, add the second one if you find any need later on. But in every case, there’s always an optical connector for each device whether it’s two in one can or just a single one. And it’s always SEAPC angle polished connectors for low optical reflectivity.
